Network Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with 2-4 years of experience to join our dynamic team in Chennai, India. This position focuses on the critical aspects of network monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support for enterprise and service provider networks. You will play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and reliability of our network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor and manage network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls using advanced network monitoring tools.
• Proactively analyze alerts and network performance metrics to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact users.
• Diagnose and resolve network outages and performance degradation issues efficiently.
• Support and execute network configuration changes, upgrades, and patch management activities.
• Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for network devices, topologies, and configurations.
• Actively participate in incident, problem, and change management processes, coordinating with relevant teams.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and escalate complex issues as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 2-4 years of professional experience in network operations or engineering.
• Proficient understanding of IP networking fundamentals, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies (VLAN, STP).
• Hands-on experience with popular network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG, or HP OpenView.
• Basic knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and fundamental network security principles.
• Practical experience with Cisco and Juniper routers and switches; multi-vendor exposure is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network performance and connectivity problems.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with MPLS, SD-WAN, or cloud networking concepts.
• Relevant networking certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent.
• Basic scripting skills in Python or Bash for network automation are a plus.
