Network Development Engineer I

Amazon is seeking a Network Development Engineer I to design and implement horizontally scalable LAN architecture for the Operations Network Engineering Core.

Key Responsibilities:
- Solve complex technical problems involving Cisco switching technology, network automation, and automating manual tasks.
- Design solutions that are scalable, testable, maintainable, and efficient. Focus on network reliability and automation to improve LAN availability for over 2,700 sites worldwide.
- Work with technologies including Cisco devices, config management tools, and AI-powered diagnostics.
- Drive root cause resolution of critical network events impacting the business.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in hands-on technical roles managing large-scale production networks using IP routing protocols (BGP/OSPF).
- Experience with routing and switching hardware from major vendors like Cisco and Juniper.
- Strong documentation skills, ability to design secure and stable network solutions, and proactive innovation mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, or Perl.
- Linux/Unix hands-on experience.
- Expert-level certifications (e.g., CCIE, JNCIE).
