Role Overview

Huntingcube is seeking a skilled Network and System Engineer to join our dynamic team in Gurugram, India. This pivotal role focuses on optimizing and maintaining our low-latency trading network across various colocation setups and Linux-based trading systems. You will be instrumental in managing network configurations, resolving complex issues, and implementing automation strategies to ensure peak performance and unwavering reliability. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in routing, switching, and Linux environments (Ubuntu, RHEL), with a unique opportunity to collaborate directly with our systems and trading teams.

What You'll Work On

• Maximize network performance through continuous monitoring, proactive troubleshooting of network problems and outages, scheduling necessary upgrades, and implementing network optimizations.
• Configure and install a diverse range of network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS implementations.
• Provide essential hands-on network support for production issues spanning colocation/trading environments, office networks, and data centers.
• Drive network automation initiatives, including the deployment and updating of configurations across multiple infrastructure devices.
• Offer direct technical support for Linux systems and related technologies within a demanding production/live trading environment.
• Provide direct technical support for networking challenges and associated areas on Linux servers within the production/live trading environment.
• Leverage knowledge of Multicast routing, PIM, and IGMP protocols for efficient network operations.
• Set up and troubleshoot Linux-based servers, including managing hardware changes, software installations, and system upgrades.
• Develop automated systems for real-time issue reporting within the live trading environment.
• Monitor and actively participate in the day-to-day operations of the trading teams.
• Build systems essential for the daily management of critical files, configurations, and the backup of relevant production data.

What We're Looking For

• An Engineering degree in Computer Science (preferred) or any other discipline, complemented by 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification is highly desirable.
• Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) will be considered an advantage.
• Proven ability to set up and configure trading server hardware.
• Expertise in VPNs and Firewalls, with specific experience in Cisco ASA and Palo Alto platforms.
• Solid experience in Routing and Switching concepts, including VLANs, Inter-VLAN routing, VTP, STP, EtherChannel, Layer 3 routing, Static routing, and Dynamic Routing Protocols.
• Proficiency in Linux administration and scripting languages such as Shell and Python.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools, particularly within the financial industry.
• Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
• A keen aptitude for quickly learning new technologies and safely leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate turnaround times while ensuring accuracy.
• Understanding of Indian Exchanges and their infrastructure would be a significant bonus.
• Excellent communication skills, essential for daily coordination with multiple teams and individuals on production-critical matters.

Additional Information

• Experience with low latency exchange connectivity or latency-sensitive networking is a strong plus.
• Experience tuning trading servers or performance-critical servers using BIOS configurations, kernel tuning, etc., is highly valued.
• Understanding of UDP packet routing at L1 based on IP addresses.
• Knowledge of whether TCP retransmission can increase latency.
• Insight into whether turbo boost or hyperthreading can cause latency jitters.
• Previous High-Frequency Trading (HFT) experience is advantageous.
