Network Administrator

Role Overview

The Fountain Group is currently recruiting for an unnamed client seeking a skilled Network Administrator II to administer and support an enterprise-scale video surveillance environment. This role focuses on Genetec VMS, camera infrastructure, network troubleshooting, incident management, and ensuring high system availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise-scale Genetec Video Management Systems (VMS) supporting a 7,000+ IP camera environment in Chicago, IL.
• Coordinate camera infrastructure maintenance, system upgrades, software updates, and provide remote/on-site technical support.
• Monitor camera availability, network events, incidents, and service-level performance to support a strict 96% camera uptime target.
• Troubleshoot IP cameras, video management servers, network video equipment, fixed/wireless network infrastructure, and connectivity issues.
• Manage Genetec camera configuration and federation across multiple Chicago agency environments.
• Coordinate incident notifications, technician dispatch, warranty repairs, hardware replacements, and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Manage incidents, service requests, root cause analysis, and change controls through ServiceNow or similar ticketing platforms.
• Support video storage infrastructure, including SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, and high-throughput video archiving environments.
• Monitor SLA compliance, service metrics, incident resolution rates, and overall system availability.
• Prepare comprehensive customer support documentation, escalation procedures, operational reports, and quarterly service reviews.

Requirements

Must Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related technical field required.
• Advanced network troubleshooting skills (TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, routing, QoS).
• Expertise in IP camera installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• VMS administration experience with enterprise ticketing systems (ServiceNow/Jira).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Office Suite, Google Workspace, network protocols (RTSP/RTCP), and video surveillance storage architectures.

Preferred:

• Hands-on experience with Genetec Security Center and federation management.
• Skill in supporting large-scale, multi-server federated video surveillance environments.
• Experience with high-throughput video streaming (multi-terabyte/petabyte).
• Knowledge of RMA processes, warranty repairs, and public-sector/telecommunications surveillance experience.
