Datos is seeking a skilled MF MQ Support – zSystem and IBMi MQ Software Engineer for their team in Delhi, Delhi. This role requires extensive experience in supporting and managing IBM MQ across z/OS and IBMi platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of MQ functionalities, application integrations, and a broad knowledge of mainframe and IBMi environments. Experience with modern technologies such as containers, AI tools, and various monitoring solutions is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert support for IBM MQ on z/OS, including QMGR and object management (queues, channels).
- Manage and support MQ on IBMi (preferred).
- Leverage experience with MQ and MQIPT on Distributed platforms (preferred).
- Understand application interactions with MQ via APIs.
- Engage in application development (preferred) and MF Operations (preferred).
- Gain knowledge of containers and IBM CP4I (preferred).
- Utilize proficiency in z/OS, ISPF, JCL, SDSF, JES, PDSE, VSAM, and related utilities.
- Understand and work with related technologies such as DB2, CICS, IMS, Network/TCPIP, and MF Automations (OPS/MVS) as they pertain to MQ.
- Implement and manage MQ Monitoring solutions for real-time and historical analysis, troubleshooting, tuning, and trending.
- Utilize MQ dashboarding tools like Prometheus/Grafana, Ironstream/Splunk.
- Analyze IBM SMF data for statistical insights.
- Configure and manage MQ alerting mechanisms, including thresholds, traps, flows, notifications, and auto-ticketing.
- Implement automations for MQ operations, syslog messages, and other functionalities.
- Implement Capexpry solutions to manage orphaned/stale messages.
- Utilize Queue Streaming for message replication.
- Manage change, incident, problem, request, configuration item, event, and oncall processes.
- Oversee MQ PLM, upgrades, maintenance, testing, implementations, and integration.
- Manage Queue Sharing Groups (QSGs), Coupling facilities, CFStructs, SMDS, SCM, and shared queueing.
- Configure and manage various MQ connectivity methods including Batch, MQ clustering, point to point channels, client connections, MQ triggering, IMS Bridge (OTMA), and MQIPT for protocol conversion.
- Manage MQ logging, active/archive logs, dual logging, zHyperwrite, and logload/checkpointing frequency.
- Collaborate effectively with teammates, other teams, and management, demonstrating excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Liaise with IBM software and third-party vendors for PLM, documentation, and technical support.
- Support Disaster Recovery exercises.
- Create and maintain technical and procedural documentation.
- Design and document messaging flows with diagrams.
- Provide excellent and timely customer service.
- Participate in periodic oncall rotations for technical and warroom support.
- Gain experience with IBMi menus, help, commands, IFS, Jobs, Libs, Logs, IASP/Mimix replication, and DB2 Mirror configurations (preferred).
- Administer IBMi MQ environments, including environment variables and automation controls (preferred).
- Support FISMA enclaves on IBMi, including MQ architecture, MQIPT for protocol conversion, SAW workbench, Firewall, SSL, and F5 configurations.
- Implement changes with proper documentation and approvals during prescribed change windows.
- Leverage AI tools for data analysis, recommendations, and solution implementation.
- Utilize M365 Copilot for meeting recaps and email drafting.
- Stay current with the role of AI in IMS System Programming.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in IBM MQ support.
- Hands-on experience with MQ on z/OS.
- Experience with MQ on IBMi is preferred.
- Experience with MQ and MQIPT on Distributed platforms is preferred.
- Understanding of application-to-MQ interactions (APIs).
- Application development experience is preferred.
- MF Operations experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of containers and IBM CP4I is preferred.
- Proficiency in z/OS utilities (ISPF, JCL, SDSF, JES, PDSE, VSAM).
- Understanding of DB2, CICS, IMS, Network/TCPIP, and MF Automations (OPS/MVS) in relation to MQ.
- Experience with MQ monitoring and dashboarding tools.
- Experience with IBM SMF data analysis.
- Experience with MQ alerting and automation.
- Experience with Capexpry and Queue Streaming.
- Experience with ITIL processes (change, incident, problem management).
- Experience with Queue Sharing Groups (QSGs) and related z/OS MQ features.
- Experience with various MQ connectivity methods.
- Experience with MQ logging and checkpointing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

- Experience working with IBM software and third-party vendors.
