MEP Engineer - Mumbai & Pune
Mepa2z Llp is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MEP Engineer to join our team in Mumbai and Pune. This is a permanent role for professionals with 2-5 years of relevant experience in MEP projects. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for various construction projects.
As an MEP Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing designs, supervising installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, managing essential documentation, and supporting project execution from the initial planning stages through to commissioning and final handover. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects within the vibrant construction landscape of Mumbai and Pune.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Technical Review
- Review MEP plans, specifications, and tender drawings to ensure alignment with design intent.
- Prepare detailed plans, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.
- Evaluate contractor shop drawings and material submittals within the stipulated contractual timeframe.
- Coordinate mechanical drawings effectively with structural and electrical disciplines.
- Provide technical clarifications and innovative solutions for on-site coordination challenges.
- Analyze and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering problems.
2. Project Coordination & Management
- Manage the daily operations and activities of the MEP team.
- Act as a key liaison between architects, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Review contractor installation methodologies and proposed subcontractors.
- Monitor the construction schedules for MEP services and provide regular progress updates to the Project Director.
- Actively participate in risk assessment workshops and report on project-specific risks.
- Advise on LEED requirements and maintain all necessary documentation.
3. Site Supervision & Quality Control
- Conduct thorough site inspections to guarantee compliance with approved shop drawings and project specifications.
- Oversee and witness critical testing procedures, including pressure testing and duct leakage testing.
- Review testing and commissioning procedures and their corresponding results.
- Maintain comprehensive defect lists and diligently monitor the implementation of remedial actions.
- Conduct final snagging inspections and prepare detailed defect reports.
- Be available for off-site inspections of equipment and materials as needed.
4. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Monitor and strictly enforce health and safety standards on all construction sites.
- Report any safety violations immediately and take necessary actions to stop unsafe work practices.
- Ensure all MEP documentation is meticulously filed and logged according to project requirements.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare draft site/engineer instructions pertinent to mechanical services.
- Review and provide constructive comments on Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Offer expert technical advice regarding variable cost claims.
- Attend project meetings and deliver technical presentations as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 2-5 years of proven experience in MEP projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Construction Project Management software.
- Familiarity with LEED standards is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
