Role Overview
Join GE Vernova as a Mechanical Design Engineer, a critical role in shaping the future of our gas power products. You will be instrumental in designing, analyzing, and optimizing components across the product lifecycle, from initial concept to resolving field issues. Your expertise will ensure the technical excellence, safety, and peak performance of our mechanical systems through advanced analysis, creative design, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct thorough analysis of mechanical components for the gas power product range.
- Perform detailed thermal, stress, and modal analyses on components within gas turbines, steam systems, generators, aeroderivatives, and powerplant accessories.
- Execute and validate tests for new and existing designs, meticulously analyzing post-test data.
- Develop comprehensive design documentation, including precise drawings, layouts, and schematics.
- Serve as the engineering focal point for new qualifications, supporting both GE Vernova and supplier production efforts.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions (CAPA) to significantly enhance product reliability, quality, and overall performance.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to refine and optimize designs.
- Assume full technical ownership of mechanical hardware, applying robust engineering principles.
- Contribute to team-based project execution and drive process enhancements.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Controlled Title Holders, analysis specialists, and global sites.
- Adhere strictly to R&D processes, manage project milestones, and actively seek peer validation.
- Provide crucial calculation support and recommendations for tendering bids.
- Participate actively in peer and design reviews, tackling and resolving complex analytical challenges.
- Embrace Lean principles to champion and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- A minimum of 13 years of experience in Mechanical or Fluids Engineering and/or Quality assurance roles.
