Catalyx Space is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Ahmedabad, India. You will play a crucial role in developing next-generation entry systems for space, taking ownership of subsystem-level design, analysis, and integration for spacecraft and reentry vehicles. This mid-level position offers the opportunity to significantly impact space hardware, seeing your designs progress from concept to real-world integration and testing.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and refine SolidWorks CAD models and detailed drawings for spacecraft structures and complex assemblies.
• Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) including structural, modal, buckling, and vibration analysis using industry-standard tools like ANSYS or Abaqus.
• Execute tolerance stack-up analyses and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Define and implement efficient assembly sequences for spacecraft structures and subsystems.
• Manage and execute wire harness routing, modeling, and documentation within the overall spacecraft CAD assemblies.
• Participate directly in actual harness integration, ensuring correct installation, strain relief, and fit.
• Contribute to qualification campaigns, including vibration, thermal, and acoustic testing, and correlate analysis results with test data.
• Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles in all assigned designs.
• Coordinate with external vendors for manufacturing, inspection, and timely delivery of flight hardware.
• Generate comprehensive engineering documentation and reports for design reviews and configuration management processes.
• Oversee procurement activities and coordinate with vendors to ensure the punctual delivery of essential parts and services.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in aerospace structural design and integration.
• Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
• Strong experience in FEA modeling, covering structural, modal, and vibration analysis.
• Proven experience with tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Exposure to and understanding of composite materials, sandwich panels, and high-temperature materials used in aerospace applications.
• Familiarity with wire harness integration processes and CAD-based routing tools.
• Hands-on experience with spacecraft integration and environmental testing is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience designing harness brackets, supports, and strain relief mechanisms.
• Proficiency in correlating FEA results with qualification test data for validation.
• Ability to manage and own sub-assemblies from conception through completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical information.
• Flexibility to work extended hours and/or weekends when project demands require it.
