Material Planner I

Job Purpose

As a Material Planner I at FMC in Hyderabad, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Manufacturing (REMS) Organization by aligning with Global Planning Processes, Policies, and local Planning Procedures. You will provide essential material planning analysis and support, ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing activities.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring and expediting material demand, influencing material supply strategies, performing detailed material planning, and offering insightful analysis, interpretation, and intervention to meet Master Production Schedule commitments. You will also act as a key advisor to other functions on material management best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage Master Data in S4 HANA and execute Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to identify demand, inventory, and supply needs.
• Support Product Standardization and Utilization initiatives.
• Plan and manage externally procured materials, including managing exceptions and deviations to the plan.
• Optimize inventory levels to maximize turns and minimize logistic costs through effective distribution logic.
• Control material allocation and escalate conflicts when they arise.
• Gain a thorough understanding of the activities and equipment associated with materials under your purview.
• Create and review new material master extensions or changes in S4 HANA for externally procured or subcontracted materials.
• Validate the use of project versus common stock materials in adherence to financial standards and procurement strategy.
• Collaborate with procurement and engineering on commodity planning, defining strategies for standardization, stocking, and order quantities to ensure timely material availability at optimal costs and lead times.
• Define planning strategies with sourcing and procurement teams, interacting with buyers to mitigate potential plan deviations.
• Develop, execute, and analyze MRP for externally procured materials, initiating actions and managing exceptions.
• Release purchase requisitions to buyers as needed.
• Provide regular progress reports on externally procured materials, informing stakeholders of any risks to the plan.
• Implement and execute Consumption Based Planning.
• Ensure accurate inventory management based on planned activity levels and product mix, maximizing inventory turns by reducing excess and optimizing strategic stock.
• Process Engineering Changes (ECNs) from all plants, ensuring data accuracy and completeness in S4 HANA/TCE.
• Maintain the accuracy of plant material masters and bills of materials in line with engineering changes.
• Provide guidance and training to colleagues on material management processes.
• Develop distribution plans to support all sites with material demand, minimizing logistic costs.
• Manage material allocation during supply chain restrictions and escalate conflicts.

Qualifications:

• Minimum degree level preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Planning, or Supply Chain.
• 1 to 3 years of relevant planning experience.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing and processes.
• Appreciation and understanding of the Engineering Execution Process (EEP).
• Practical understanding of Engineering BOMs.
• Technical Proficiency: S4 HANA, Advanced Microsoft Excel, Data Analysis, Developing and using KPIs.

Nice to Have:

• Planning qualification and/or experience in Subsea Construction Planning.
• Good knowledge and experience of Operations/Manufacturing, Energy industry, and Planning.
• Advanced S4 HANA Planning systems & transactions skills preferred.
• Desired APICS CPIM Certification.
• Experience of the Subsea industry preferred.
• Experience and/or Certifications in Lean Six Sigma preferred.
• Technical background is a plus.
• Ability to utilize systemic thinking to solve cross-functional system-level problems with preventative measures.
