Manager Software Engineering

Optum is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for a newly formed team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This role provides end-to-end engineering leadership, encompassing team setup, execution oversight, and delivery accountability for InterQual initiatives. You will own the planning and delivery of multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with the committed roadmap, architecture, quality, and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will lead, coach, and develop engineering talent, establishing robust engineering practices, Agile execution, and delivery governance. Collaboration is key, partnering closely with Product, Architecture, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive prioritization, manage dependencies and risks, and ensure predictable, high-quality outcomes.

Primary Responsibility:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years in engineering management or senior technical leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading and scaling teams, driving Agile delivery, and effectively partnering with Product, Architecture, and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve committed outcomes.
• Solid technical foundation in Java and enterprise application development, with a working knowledge of modern architecture and delivery practices.
