Full Job Description
Manager, Software Engineering (Architecture, UI/UX, Frontend, Leadership) at Gartner in Gurugram, Haryana
Join a world-class team of skilled engineers at Gartner IT, dedicated to building creative digital solutions that empower our colleagues and clients. We impact the organization broadly by delivering cutting-edge technology solutions that power Gartner. Our culture thrives on nonstop innovation, an outcome-driven approach to success, and the belief that great ideas can originate from any team member.
About the Role
Gartner is seeking a dynamic Software Engineering Manager to lead our Client Experience Team. This role is ideal for a technical leader who excels at the intersection of sophisticated UI development and engineering management. You will lead a dedicated pod of engineers focused on building high-performance, client-facing interfaces that serve as the primary gateway to our AI and Search insights. As a leader, you will guide the technical execution ('how') while transitioning into managing the team's focus ('who') and delivery timelines ('when'). Your responsibility will be to ensure our web platforms are not only visually appealing but also architecturally sound, accessible, and optimized for our global clientele.
What You’ll Do
- Team Leadership & Growth: Manage a team of 5–8 developers, overseeing daily operations, professional development, and performance. Maintain a high standard for code quality and UI consistency.
- UI-Centric Delivery: Direct the execution of UI-intensive projects, ensuring seamless integration between complex backend data (AI/Search) and intuitive frontend user experiences.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product and UX Design teams to assess feasibility, break down intricate requirements into executable sprints, and manage delivery schedules.
- Technical Governance: Conduct code reviews and architectural deep-dives. Ensure adherence to modern CSS/JS best practices, design systems, and web performance standards.
- Operational Excellence: Enhance the team's 'Shift Left' capabilities through automated UI testing, visual regression suites, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
- Strategic Alignment: Translate the business roadmap into actionable technical tasks, ensuring the team concentrates on high-impact features that elevate the client experience.
What You’ll Need
Must Have:
- Experience: 7–8+ years of overall Software Engineering experience, with a minimum of 1–1.5 years in a formal Engineering Management or Team Lead role with direct people-management responsibilities.
- Frontend Expertise: Strong proficiency in modern web technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue, with a focus on developing complex, state-heavy client applications.
- Managerial Foundations: Demonstrated ability in performance reviews, mentorship, and technical conflict resolution within an engineering team.
- UI/UX Sensibility: A thorough understanding of web performance metrics (Core Web Vitals) and accessibility standards (WCAG), with the ability to partner effectively with designers.
- Architecture: Experience designing and consuming scalable REST or GraphQL APIs that support data-rich user interfaces.
- Process Mindset: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and a history of improving team velocity and deployment frequency.
Nice to Have / Opportunity to Learn:
- Experience building interfaces for Search-driven applications or AI-powered dashboards.
- Knowledge of Micro-Frontend architectures or managing shared component libraries.
- Exposure to Cloud environments (AWS/Azure) and server-side rendering (SSR) techniques.
We encourage all candidates who are enthusiastic about this opportunity to apply, even if they don't meet every single requirement. You may be the ideal fit for this or other roles.
