Manager

GHX is seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact team in Hyderabad, India (Hybrid). This role emphasizes a product-centric approach over a project-based one. You will guide the team through the entire Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC), from discovery to delivery, while actively contributing to the codebase by writing production-grade code approximately 50% of the time. Close collaboration with the product management team is essential to ensure the development of the right solutions. Responsibilities include designing, coding, and deploying high-quality software using Angular, Java, and AWS Lambda; driving the PDLC by defining outcomes and iterating based on user feedback; mentoring and developing engineers, fostering technical mastery and product thinking; upholding high standards for reliability, testing, observability, and code quality; collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams across different time zones; and balancing release speed with system safety through progressive delivery and CI/CD practices. The role also involves establishing opinionated roadmaps in partnership with tech leaders and product management.

Required Experience:

• A minimum of 8 years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or management capacity.
• Exceptional English communication skills (written and spoken) for seamless global collaboration.
• Proficiency in Angular (v13+), TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Extensive experience with Java (Spring Boot) services.
• A strong understanding of AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, and API Gateway.
• Solid grasp of system design, scalability, microservices, and distributed architectures.
• Proven experience in designing highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure systems.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring engineers and conducting constructive code reviews.
• A strong product sense, capable of aligning engineering decisions with user and business objectives.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch).
• Expertise in performance optimization for large-scale Java applications.
• Experience working in distributed, asynchronous, global teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 4 weeks per year.
