Morgan Stanley's Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution, and trading of equity, equity-linked, and equity-derivative securities. The Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) group within IED develops rules-based investment strategies to provide clients with diverse exposures.

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with at least 5 years of experience to join the QIS Strats team in Mumbai. This role is integral to the Global QIS data platform team, focusing on innovative projects and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities include creating and enhancing dashboards for data and index telemetry, analyzing datasets from various providers, developing intelligent quality checks, maintaining data quality and index publication governance, partnering with technology teams for scalable solutions, and building Python toolkits and data adaptors for the research platform. Active involvement in automating and streamlining data workflows is also expected.

Essential Skills: A minimum of 5 years in data science or a related field, a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related fields, proficiency in Python (Pandas, Numpy), strong SQL knowledge, understanding of general development principles (e.g., unit testing), a keen interest and experience in data science and quantitative domains, comfort with UNIX/Linux, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, strong collaborative and communication abilities, and a drive to work in an intense, team-oriented environment.

Desirable Skills: Familiarity with equity or fixed income markets, awareness of financial markets, knowledge of KDB/Q, Java, and experience with visualization and dashboards are beneficial.
