Role Overview: Machine Learning Engineer (Contract)

Mercor is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer based in India to join our expert network on a full-time contract basis. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, guiding AI research teams and establishing the ground truth for complex data science and machine learning workflows.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, document, and evaluate complex AI tasks involving statistical modeling, ML pipelines, and data engineering.
• Analyze and provide high-quality written feedback on AI agent outputs, ensuring technical accuracy and efficiency.
• Develop robust evaluation frameworks to assess agentic behavior and advanced data analysis approaches.
• Collaborate with cross-functional experts to maintain rigorous standards in AI training data.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional or research experience in data science, machine learning, or AI systems.
• Technical proficiency in statistical modeling, LLMs, or agentic workflows.
• Strong written communication skills for technical documentation and evaluation.
• Ability to commit to a 40-hour work week.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with human-in-the-loop AI evaluation, data labeling, or agentic frameworks.
