Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead the development of our performance and learning tools. This individual contributor role involves the design, construction, and optimization of Machine Learning models for player analytics, skill assessment, and automated highlight generation. We are looking for someone enthusiastic about sports and eager to create solutions that integrate computer vision, machine learning, and sports science. You will collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to translate innovative ideas into production-ready products.
Role & Responsibilities
- Computer Vision & ML Models: Apply computer vision and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from sports videos and match data.
- MLOps: Develop and maintain an end-to-end sports analytics ML platform, covering video ingestion to production deployment on AWS, adhering to best MLOps practices.
- Collaboration: Partner with product and tech teams to align on features and integration strategies, while independently driving AI product delivery.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor model performance, collect user feedback, and iteratively refine algorithms to enhance accuracy and user experience.
- Data Management: Process and analyze structured and unstructured data, including videos, scores, and statistics, to improve model accuracy.
- Ownership: Take high ownership within a dynamic startup environment.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a growth mindset.
- Hands-on proficiency in Python with libraries such as OpenCV, Object Detection models, Object Tracking, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and other ML libraries.
- 2–4 years of experience in training and deploying computer vision models in production environments.
- Practical experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Effective utilization of AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate development and research workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong academic record from leading institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs, BITS Pilani, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of transformers, advanced object detection models, object tracking, and video analysis models.
- Expertise in containerization technologies like Docker and ML platforms like MLFlow.
- Familiarity with AWS services including MediaConvert and SageMaker.
- Previous experience working in a large-scale consumer technology company.
