Machine Learning Analyst

We are seeking a Machine Learning Analyst to join our HIH team at Evernorth. This role involves building scalable software solutions utilizing LLMs and other ML models to address complex healthcare challenges. You will develop enterprise-grade AI solutions with a strong emphasis on privacy, security, and fairness. As a Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) subject matter expert, you will collaborate with Product Development to architect and develop scalable, resilient, and ethical AI solutions.

Key responsibilities include designing AI outputs in formats like JSON, arrays, or HTML for seamless integration into dashboards, enabling accelerated development cycles. You will build extensible API integrations, low-code UI/UX solutions, and extract information from various sources, integrating with models like GPT4 to deliver actionable insights via intuitive, high-performing dashboards.

This position requires a commitment to responsible AI practices. You will envision solutions that address business problems, translating them into actionable insights and viable outcomes. Understanding how AI interprets data is crucial for crafting effective prompts to achieve desired results. You will architect and develop software and infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems, leveraging machine learning technologies and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and open-source platforms such as Hugging Face.

Your work will also involve optimizing existing generative AI models for enhanced performance, scalability, and efficiency, and developing/maintaining AI pipelines for data preprocessing, feature extraction, model training, and evaluation. Clear and concise documentation of technical specifications, user guides, and presentations will be essential for communicating complex AI concepts to diverse stakeholders. You will contribute to establishing best practices and standards for generative AI development within the organization.

Required Experience:

• 1-3 years of overall experience.
• 1+ years of full-stack engineering expertise in languages such as C# and Python. Proficiency in architecture design, API integrations, cloud service deployment, authentication, monitoring, and logging is required.
• Experience implementing enterprise AI, computer vision, or natural language processing systems in production environments. Exposure to self-supervised learning, transfer learning, and reinforcement learning is advantageous.
• Experience with information storage and retrieval using vector databases like Pinecone.
• Strong understanding and practical experience in natural language generation or Gen AI technologies such as transformers, LLMs, and text embeddings.
• Experience designing scalable software systems for classification, text extraction/summarization, and data connectors for various formats (PDF, CSV, DOC, etc.).
• Proficiency with machine learning libraries and frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, Langchain, and Llama Index.
• 1+ years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization on cross-functional projects.
• Programming experience in C/C++, Java, and Python.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and creative skills for developing innovative AI solutions.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to various audiences.
• A proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Experience:

• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or ServiceNow is preferred.
• Experience identifying KPIs for Generative AI solutions (e.g., RAG-based Q&A, data summarization, text generation, data extraction) is a significant advantage.
• Understanding of standards and regulations related to GenAI use for US-based health insurance providers is preferred.
• Healthcare industry experience is a plus, though not mandatory.

Required Education:

• Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
