Lead Technical Trainer/Writer

Carter Lard Consulting is seeking a highly motivated Lead Technical Trainer/Writer to lead our field training initiatives. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive development of training materials, ensuring strict adherence to FRA requirements, and the effective delivery of training sessions. The Lead Technical Trainer/Writer will also be responsible for coordinating with vendors and subcontractors to maintain high standards and seamless operations. Key responsibilities include drafting training documentation from vendor data, manuals, and direct observation; verifying compliance with FRA regulations, specifically 49 CFR 238.109; and meticulously proofreading and editing vendor documents. The role requires clear delegation of responsibilities when multiple instructors are involved and managing all logistical aspects of training, including personnel, tools, and consumables. The Lead will monitor vendor performance in classroom settings and deliver various training classes covering familiarization, FRA requirements, subsystem integration, and interfaces. This position serves as a primary point of contact between Carter Lard Consulting (KRC), vendors, and the Authority, and involves writing official correspondence. Coordination of training classes at Authority sites, verification of site readiness (documentation and equipment), and liaison with the Engineering Department for technical queries are also essential. The role includes timely turnover of contract training deliverables, assistance in curriculum and schedule design for new contracts, and providing written evaluations of course and instructor effectiveness. Support for the Manager of Training and Manuals and Assistant Manager of Training in staff development is also expected.
