Lead Software Integration Engineer

Thales is seeking a Lead Software Integration Engineer to join our Software organization in Bengaluru, India. This role focuses on developing new features for our next-generation Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) product suite.

As a key member of a Scrum team, you will be responsible for understanding system requirements and behavior, modifying and developing software, and creating and executing performance test plans. You will also troubleshoot hardware, network, and software issues, collaborating closely with other engineering teams, including software developers, architects, and integration/validation teams. Your primary objective will be to deliver features to verification/validation teams, meeting schedule milestones and quality objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate end-to-end systems to validate software, system, and third-party deliveries (15%).
  • Troubleshoot Android framework services and C++/Java on server-side Linux-based systems (15%).
  • Define and execute various system and software performance test plans (15%).
  • Drive the resolution of software issues identified during the software test and integration phase (10%).
  • Propose and implement improvements to software processes, tools, and products to enhance efficiency and performance (10%).
  • Develop internal tools or utilize industry tools for capturing and analyzing system performance metrics (10%).
  • Analyze root causes of complex hardware or network issues (10%).
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for progress and performance, creating reports and leading presentations to management and stakeholders (5%).
  • Participate in technical discussions and agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint retrospectives, and sprint planning meetings (5%).
  • Mentor and train team members on technical concepts and department processes (5%).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 8+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 8 to 12 years of experience.
  • 8+ years of experience with Linux, Networking, and Scripting.
  • 8+ years of experience with Java or C++.
  • Familiarity with test principles including functional, performance, stress, endurance, recovery, and ad hoc testing.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP and VLANs.
  • Strong self-motivation, critical thinking, and a robust technical background.
  • Excellent decision-making, planning, organizing, problem analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and solve complex problems.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills for summarizing technical issues and analyses.
  • Data-driven approach, with experience managing KPIs to drive improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching or mentoring team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience debugging on Linux and/or Android-based systems.
  • Development or testing experience with Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi devices.
  • Experience in In-Flight Entertainment (IFE).
  • Experience with test automation design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and common tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience with media streaming protocols (rtsp, hls, dash).
  • Experience with network protocols (tcp/udp/rtp).
