Role Overview:
The Site Reliability Engineer (P2) ensures the reliability, availability, and performance of software systems through monitoring, automation, and incident response within our Pune, India office. This role is critical for maintaining robust infrastructure that supports accelerated software delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Reliability & Performance:
- Monitor and maintain system availability, performance, and capacity using advanced observability tools.
- Implement monitoring solutions and alerts to proactively identify potential issues before they impact service.
- Automation & Infrastructure:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash/Python) to reduce manual operational tasks.
- Implement infrastructure as code solutions using established tools and frameworks for scalable deployments.
- CI/CD Pipeline Support:
- Support continuous integration and deployment pipelines to enable accelerated software delivery cycles.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize build and deployment processes in an Agile environment.
- Incident Management:
- Respond to and resolve incidents following established procedures, best practices, and SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
- Participate in on-call rotations and conduct thorough post-incident analysis (blameless culture) to prevent recurrence.
- Problem Solving:
- Analyze and solve a variety of complex technical problems using experience, judgment, and past precedents.
- Apply deep knowledge of system architecture to troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues efficiently.
- Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Work closely with development and operations teams across geographies to improve overall system reliability and performance metrics (uptime/latency).
- Receive moderate guidance on complex technical challenges while providing informal mentorship and guidance to newer team members.
Requirements:
- Programming & Scripting: 2+ years of programming experience. While this is primarily an operations role, you will frequently need to create simple scripts using Bash or Python and perform general UNIX system administration tasks.
- Security Integration: Experience in technology integration and analysis, specifically with common technologies like SAML for Single Sign-On (SSO) and LDAP directory services.
- Frontend/Full-Stack Adjacency: Familiarity with modern JavaScript technologies such as ReactJS, EmberJS, or NodeJS is highly desirable to collaborate effectively with frontend engineering teams during incident triage.
- AWS Cloud Mastery: Broad experience with AWS cloud services including Elasticache (Redis/Memcached), Elasticsearch for logging/monitoring data, VPC networking design, CloudSearch, Route53 DNS management, and CloudTrail audit logs. Proficiency in RDS is also beneficial.
- Compliance & Governance: Proven experience working with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance requirements and other IT compliance controls to ensure data integrity and regulatory adherence.
- Automation Expertise: Hands-on experience automating AWS public clouds using REST APIs, CLI tools, and configuration management software like Terraform or Ansible.
