Lead Software Engineer

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Payments Technology group, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, business analysis skills, and experience in integrating applications into IAM (Identity and Access Management) and cloud environments. Job Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops and maintains full-stack Java applications with a focus on IAM and cloud integration
Collaborates with stakeholders to gather and analyse business requirements, translating them into technical specifications Implements and integrates IAM solutions (e.g., Okta, ForgeRock) to enhance security and user management for the Bengaluru team Leads application onboarding processes, ensuring seamless integration with cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud Develops and maintains RESTful APIs and microservices for secure, scalable applications Conducts business analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement using modern technology solutions in India's tech hub Ensures high performance, scalability, and reliability of applications serving global customers Conducts code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery within our Bengaluru engineering team Updates latest industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement; mentors junior developers fostering a collaborative environment in Karnataka Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorised AI-assisted engineering practices (e.g., AI for refactoring, test strategy acceleration) while establishing consistent validation standards. Promotes reuse of effective patterns across the Bengaluru Payments Technology group. Applies knowledge of SDLC toolchain including authorised AI tools to improve automation value in our local delivery environment

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

• 5+ years as an expert Full Stack Java Developer with focus on IAM, cloud technologies (AWS/GCP), business analysis, and application onboarding – ideal for senior professionals in Bengaluru's growing tech scene
Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, and related enterprise-grade technologies used globally Experience with leading IAM tools and platforms including Okta, ForgeRock, and Microsoft Azure AD common in financial services Solid understanding of major cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure for building scalable solutions in India's digital economy Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail essential for high-stakes banking projects Excellent communication and teamwork abilities required for cross-functional collaboration with global teams based here in Bengaluru Experience in business analysis including requirements gathering, process mapping, and stakeholder management within the financial sector – a key skill sought after by employers across India's fintech landscape Proven experience in application onboarding and integration processes ensuring smooth deployment of critical banking systems Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with ability to set team expectations for validating outputs correctly, securely, and efficiently – increasingly vital as banks adopt GenAI responsibly Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows including data sensitivity considerations crucial when handling customer financial information; secure handling of inputs/outputs adhering to global resiliency and security standards expected by JPMorgan Chase's stringent compliance requirements Coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices tailored for diverse teams working remotely or onsite in Bangalore

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience with front-end technologies like Angular, React, or Vue.js is highly valued and will be an asset during your first few months contributing to digital banking portals served by our Bengaluru team Experience with containerisation tools such as Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes for managing complex microservices architectures deployed across multiple cloud regions – standard practice in modern software delivery pipelines operating from India's tech centers
Knowledge of DevOps practices including setting up CI/CD pipelines that automate testing, building, and deployment workflows commonly implemented by engineering teams scaling operations in Bengaluru Familiarity with industry-standard security protocols such as OAuth 2.0, SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect which are mandatory for protecting sensitive customer identity data processed through our cloud-native IAM integrations
