About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise-scale platforms and innovative solutions. You will lead engineering teams, shape technical strategy, and foster innovation across full-stack development, cloud-native ecosystems, and cutting-edge technologies like Generative AI. This position requires deep technical acumen, a commitment to engineering excellence, and the ability to influence and mentor across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and spearhead the system design and architecture for enterprise-scale applications, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and optimal performance within the firm's technology infrastructure.
• Establish and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices aligned with JPMorgan Chase's strategic technology vision.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge and achieve operational excellence.
• Lead the development of high-performance, distributed platforms utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and Event-Driven architectures (including Kafka, event sourcing, and CQRS).
• Drive full-stack development initiatives, covering backend services, APIs, and modern front-end experiences developed with React and related UI/UX technologies.
• Architect and implement solutions within hybrid cloud environments, leveraging public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and private cloud infrastructure.
• Champion container-based application development and orchestration using Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift within enterprise-grade systems.
• Promote a DevSecOps culture by embedding security throughout CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
• Ensure all applications adhere to the firm's stringent standards for security, compliance, and operational resilience.
• Lead the design and implementation of Agentic AI and Generative AI solutions, integrating large language models, AI agents, and intelligent automation into enterprise platforms.
• Collaborate closely with data science and AI/ML teams to successfully deploy innovative AI-driven capabilities at scale.

Required Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, supplemented by 5+ years of practical experience.
• Profound expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architectures, including proficiency in event-driven and message-based systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Demonstrated experience in full-stack development using modern UI/UX frameworks, with a particular focus on React (including state management, component design, and responsive design principles).
• Significant experience architecting and deploying applications in hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises infrastructure).
• Extensive hands-on experience with containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and cloud-native development paradigms.
• Proven expertise in DevSecOps methodologies, encompassing CI/CD pipeline development, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible), automated security assessments, and observability tools.
• Experience in designing and implementing Agentic AI and/or Generative AI solutions within enterprise settings.
• A strong history of leading platform development and engineering teams, including recruitment, mentorship, and performance management.
• Expert-level proficiency in system design and architecture for large-scale, distributed, enterprise applications characterized by high availability and fault tolerance.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the financial services industry or other highly regulated sectors.
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with API gateway design, service mesh architectures (Istio, Envoy), and GraphQL.
• Knowledge of data engineering principles, real-time data streaming, and analytics platforms.
• Experience contributing to or leading open-source projects.
• An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
