Lead Platform Architect

About the Role

As a Lead Platform Architect at APM Terminals in Pune and Bengaluru, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our global supply chain platform. This is a leadership role with significant hands-on technical engagement. You will be responsible for managing standards, coaching engineering teams, and driving the modernization, integration, deployment, operation, and maintenance of our mission-critical platform capabilities. These capabilities are vital to our industrial facilities and vessels worldwide.

Your deep and broad technical expertise will be leveraged to mentor, coach, and develop the skills of our engineers. You will actively participate in technical work, resolving complex issues and challenges to ensure the success of our platform initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, improve, and roadmap the architecture and designs for the APMT Business Enabling Platform. This includes Sales & Commercial, Finance, Procurement, Digital Asset Management, and Safety platforms, along with their associated products, services, and solutions.
• Create and maintain architectural descriptions and design artifacts, ensuring they are usable and address stakeholder concerns, with a focus on commercial, finance, procurement, and asset management domains.
• Provide architectural leadership to ensure team outputs comply with defined architecture specifications, requirements, and industry best practices.
• Guide and resolve technical issues and challenges faced by engineering teams during the implementation of the business-enabling platform and associated services.
• Collaborate with business units, customers, technology partners, automation and equipment providers, senior engineering managers, product owners, scrum masters, frontline colleagues, and scrum teams to support solution, design, architecture, release, and sprint planning.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to bridge the gap between technology and business needs.
• Drive the career growth of engineers by defining technical skills and training within your architectural scope.
• Attract top talent, providing technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members.
• Represent APM Terminals (Maersk) on key industry standards forums and contribute to research and publications.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum of 10 years of industry experience, with over 5 years focused on architecting and/or developing and delivering end-to-end business functions (e.g., commercial, finance, procurement, asset management) and integration platforms.
• Experience defining architecture standards for end-to-end commercial processes, from customer acquisition and contract negotiation through service delivery, invoicing, and financial settlement.
• Proven experience leading the architecture and evolution of AI-enabled business platforms, including designing and integrating Agentic AI capabilities to automate and augment decision-making in commercial, financial, and operational areas.
• Expertise in architecting scalable platforms that support multi-agent orchestration, AI-driven workflows, and integration with enterprise data and transaction systems.
• Ability to establish standards for responsible AI, governance, security, and lifecycle management of AI agents within the enterprise technology ecosystem.
• Significant experience in architecting and defining standards for asset lifecycle integration, including information definition, data transformation, data validation, and exchange patterns, utilizing both traditional and modern API approaches (e.g., RESTful).
• Experience with model-driven architecture and developing physical and logical architectures for infrastructure, particularly with an industrial focus.
• Experience defining enterprise data architecture and governance for asset master data across engineering, maintenance, and operational systems.
• Proficiency in applying Architecture Management Frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or SABSA.
• Experience in applying Cyber Security Controls and Mitigations in architectural designs, and familiarity with security frameworks like ISO 27001, SABSA, COBIT, ISA-99/ISO 62443, or NIST.
• Familiarity with planning, estimating, and executing development programs to time, budget, and quality targets, including resource identification and supply capacity management.
• Experience aligning development activities and deliverables with agreed architectures and standards.
• Familiarity with agile principles and values (e.g., Agile Manifesto) and practical experience in software development using agile methods like Scrum or Kanban, with an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) bias.
• Experience identifying new and emerging technologies, products, services, methods, and techniques, assessing their relevance and potential impact on business enablers, cost, performance, or sustainability, and communicating these findings effectively.
