MetLife's Group Disability technology organization is seeking a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer II in Hyderabad, Telangana. This role is instrumental in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions for MetLife's Group Disability & Absence products, which provide income and job protection to millions in the United States. You will collaborate closely with Scrum Leads, Product Owners, and ART Leadership, impacting the entire system to deliver exceptional customer experiences. This position requires thought leadership, creative problem-solving, and expertise in Big Data technologies for customer-facing solutions and strategic data supply chains.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hands-on development using Spark, Hive, NoSQL, SOLR, and in-memory data processing.
• Develop data architecture and solution designs for batch, speed, and serving layers.
• Improve and reengineer existing solutions focusing on data speed, latency, quality, and analytical insights.
• Serve as an escalation point for deployments and change oversight, supporting high-visibility business priorities.
• Design scalable and supportable applications in collaboration with Big Data developers.
• Develop automation scripts using Shell script/Python.
• Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall) and collaborate with key stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain operate runbooks.

Requirements:

• Advanced knowledge of computer application principles, including software engineering, system analysis and design, algorithms, digital systems, computer system architecture, data structures, computer networks, database management systems, and programming.
• Core hands-on development skills in the Big Data ecosystem: Spark Scala, SOLR, Pig, Hive, Kafka, and HBase.
• Experience with real-time data delivery, Kafka, NiFi, and Change Data Capture (CDC).
• Ability to optimize and tune queries and job flows on Hadoop environments for performance.
• Good understanding of release management and CI/CD practices.
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years of software design and development experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience deploying Hadoop components like Hive, Spark, HBase, and SOLR.
• Strong communication skills for leading interactions with global business and technology leaders.
• 3-5 years of functional experience in the Insurance industry.
• Cloud experience with Azure and Google is a plus.
• Experience working in cross-functional, multi-location teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• 12-15 years of experience with BS/MS in Computer Science/Information Systems.
