About the Role: Lead Engineer – Robotics & IoT
We are seeking a senior engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of robotics systems, IoT solutions, and hands-on technical curriculum at NIAT. This pivotal role will focus on building NIAT's physical technology capabilities by developing hardware for student learning, creating connected systems to address real-world problems, and crafting rigorous courses that align with industry demands.
The ideal candidate possesses deep, practical expertise in robotics and embedded IoT, a proven history of leading engineering teams to successful product launches, and the ability to translate this knowledge into effective learning experiences that produce industry-ready engineers.
Responsibilities:
As the senior technical authority for the Robotics & IoT team, your work will encompass four key areas:
Hardware & Systems
- Design and build IoT and robotics systems from conception to completion, including schematic design, firmware development, integration, and field testing. You will own the entire engineering lifecycle of physical products.
Connected Systems & IoT
- Architect and implement IoT solutions, covering device connectivity, sensor pipelines, embedded firmware, and cloud-edge integration. You will also define the technical standards for the team.
Curriculum & Technical Content
- Transform your engineering expertise into robust, hands-on learning courses, labs, and projects designed to develop job-ready skills in robotics and IoT.
Team Leadership
- Directly manage a team of engineers, setting sprint goals, reviewing work, resolving blockers, and fostering team member development.
Experience We Value:
We prioritize your accomplishments over exposure:
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in robotics, embedded systems, or the IoT industry.
- Demonstrable experience in building a hardware product end-to-end, from initial concept to a functional physical system.
- Strong working knowledge of ROS2 and autonomous systems, including navigation, sensor integration, and control pipelines.
- Experience with IoT hardware, including microcontrollers, embedded firmware, sensor interfacing, and connectivity protocols.
- Proven experience managing or technically leading an engineering team on a shipped project.
- A B.Tech or M.Tech degree from an IIT, NIT, or equivalent institution, in ECE, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or Robotics.
- Exposure to Physical AI concepts such as VLAs, edge inference, and autonomous mobile robots is a significant advantage.
