Sortly is looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to enhance the scalability, reliability, and performance of our backend systems. In this pivotal role, you will set the standard by writing high-quality, maintainable code, influencing architectural decisions, and guiding junior engineers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop impactful features, ensuring our systems are robust, efficient, and prepared for future growth.

Responsibilities:

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Lead technical design discussions and influence architectural choices across projects.
• Produce clean, well-tested, and efficient code, promoting best engineering practices through rigorous code reviews.
• Monitor system health, participate in on-call rotations, and ensure high availability.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement sustainable solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing initiatives.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 7 years of backend engineering experience within product-focused companies.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new ones.
• Proven track record in designing distributed systems and experience with major cloud platforms.
• Strong foundational knowledge of databases, caching strategies, and system design principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong emphasis on reliability and scalability.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing projects from conception to completion and in mentoring colleagues.
• A self-driven, proactive attitude with a passion for building exceptional systems that enhance user experiences.
