Lead AI Engineer

BukuWarung seeks a hands-on Lead AI Engineer (Lead Engineer - AI) based in Bangalore to build production-ready AI solutions that accelerate core business operations. This role requires translating complex fintech challenges into scalable AI systems serving high-volume merchant ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive the end-to-end implementation of an AI Business Acceleration roadmap across critical functions including Sales, Merchant Operations, Credit/Risk, Support, Finance, and General Operations.
• Design, build, and productionize advanced AI solutions such as intelligent agents, copilots, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, automation pipelines, and decision-support tools tailored for fintech contexts.
• Identify and execute high-impact use cases that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs), orchestration frameworks, human-in-the-loop mechanisms, evaluation protocols, and robust guardrails to ensure reliability in a live financial environment.
• Establish scalable AI engineering foundations including secure API integrations, observability stacks, data governance, security compliance, and system scalability designed for high-throughput operations.
• Led initiatives that transition AI prototypes from experimental phases into stable production adoption within the platform.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams spanning Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Business Operations to ensure alignment between technical capabilities and business goals while maintaining a highly hands-on engineering approach.

Requirements:

• Mandatory 8+ years of comprehensive software engineering experience covering Backend development, Platform architecture, Data Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence/ML.
• Demonstrable expertise in building robust production systems rather than isolated AI prototypes or research experiments.
• Proven hands-on proficiency with LLMs, RAG architectures, autonomous agents, tool orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain), evaluation metrics, and safety guardrails specifically within enterprise settings.
• Strong command of fundamental principles in Systems Design, API development, Data Engineering, Information Security, Reliability engineering, and Scalability patterns essential for high-volume fintech applications.
• Critical ability to translate ambiguous business problems into impactful, deployable AI solutions that drive measurable operational efficiency.
• Preferred: Prior experience within the Fintech sector, Payments infrastructure, Commerce platforms, Lending ecosystems, or managing high-volume transactional operations is a significant plus for this role based in Bangalore serving Indonesian markets.
