L1/L2 Data Classification engineer

Position: Data Classification Engineer

Level: L1 & L2

Experience Required: 2 - 7 Years

Location: Mumbai (Ville Parle), India

Mode of Work: On-site, 5 days from office

Certification: CEH Mandatory (can be completed before joining)

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement incident response processes based on detected threats.
• Design the integration of Data Classification with existing security workflows.
• Create, configure, edit, and tune classification policies for compliance (GDPR, DPDP, IRDAI) and security use cases.
• Configure reports and dashboards for regular updates to LIC stakeholders.

Data Protection & Governance

The candidate will assess the endpoint security infrastructure, identify vulnerabilities, and create data flow maps. This includes developing an inventory of Sensitive Data (PII, PHI) across states: in transit, at rest, and in process.

Technical Implementation

• Deploy DC agents on endpoints within the organization's network ensuring infrastructure compatibility.
• Enable classification for Word, Excel, PowerPoint documents directly from Microsoft Office.
• Apply metadata tagging to various formats including PDFs and images.
• Integrate with OpenOffice for real-time document classification.

Policy Configuration

Candidates will enable users to define labels (Public, Internal, Confidential, Restricted) and apply them via headers/footers. Classification should be triggered on Save or Print events using configurable management mechanisms capable of processing multiple documents simultaneously.

Advanced Features & Reporting

• Policies based on keywords and regular expressions.
• Manual, Automated, and Suggested classification features.
• Automatic detection of PII types in email attachments/subjects.
• Real-time alerts for anomalous activity indicating potential threats.

Cross-Platform Integration

The solution must ensure compatibility with SIEM systems, incident response tools, and other security ecosystems. The candidate will deliver periodic reports as per requirements and manage agent redeployment upon OS or infrastructure changes.
