Junior Software Engineer

About the Role

We are hiring a Junior Software Engineer to join the founding engineering team of one of Swiss Founders Fund's fast-growing portfolio ventures. You will help build and scale an AI-native product that is preparing for its Y Combinator application.

Your Responsibilities

• Build & Ship: Develop core features from problem understanding through implementation, testing, and release.
• Development: Create APIs, backend services, database integrations, and user-facing functionality.
• AI Integration: Integrate AI models and third-party services to ensure reliability in practice.
• Maintenance & Optimization: Investigate bugs, improve performance, and handle growing usage loads.
• Coding Standards: Write clear, maintainable code with meaningful tests.

Collaboration

You will work directly with founders to make practical technical decisions. Clear communication in English is required to collaborate reliably with a remote team. You must flag blockers early and deliver without constant supervision.

What We're Looking For

• Evidence of Building: Created working software (projects, open-source, internships) that you can explain technically.
• Fundamentals: Understanding of APIs, databases, debugging, version control, and web application architecture.
• Depth: Proficiency in at least one language or framework beyond tutorials.
• Independence: Ability to break down unfamiliar problems and investigate options independently.
• Learning Agility: Seeking feedback and understanding the 'why' behind solutions.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with LLM APIs or AI tools (e.g., reviewing/debugging generated code).
• Deploying/maintaining live applications used by others.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, automated deployments, and app security.
