Junior Network Engineer - Bangalore

Whitefield Careers is seeking a dedicated Junior Network Engineer with 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience to join our team in Bangalore. This full-time, onsite position is crucial for maintaining and supporting our on-premises network infrastructure, ensuring the security, availability, and compliance of our payment platforms and enterprise systems. We are looking for candidates with strong networking fundamentals, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and prior exposure to secure enterprise network environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support and maintenance for on-premises network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Continuously monitor network performance, availability, and security across data center environments.
• Effectively troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VPN, and firewall-related issues, aiming for minimal downtime.
• Assist in the configuration and ongoing maintenance of VLANs, routing protocols, and access control policies.
• Support firewall rule management, VPN (IPSec/SSL) configurations, and network segmentation strategies.
• Actively participate in change management, incident management, and root cause analysis (RCA) processes.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and ISPs to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Ensure adherence to security standards pertinent to payment and BFSI environments, including PCI-DSS, ISO, and internal audits.
• Be prepared to participate in on-call or shift-based support rotations as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of professional experience as a Network Engineer or Network Support Engineer.
• A strong understanding of core networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and NAT.
• Practical experience with on-premises networking devices from vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, Aruba, or similar.
• Proven experience working with enterprise-grade firewalls and VPN technologies.
• Solid knowledge of routing and switching concepts.
• Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Familiarity with data center networking environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to load balancers (e.g., F5, Citrix).
• Basic proficiency in Linux commands for network troubleshooting.
• Understanding of ITIL frameworks, specifically Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent.
• Experience within the BFSI or Payments domain.
