Junior Backend Engineer Golang

Join Swiss Re as a Junior Backend Engineer in Bengaluru, specializing in Golang. This role involves developing and maintaining robust backend services that adhere to high engineering standards and best practices. You will be instrumental in building and extending APIs for reliable data exchange across configuration and asset management systems, as well as contributing to the implementation and optimization of RESTful APIs and microservice components. Your responsibilities will include supporting CI/CD processes, automated testing, and build/deployment pipelines. Experience with containerization using Docker and participation in Kubernetes deployment workflows are essential. You will also be involved in performance monitoring and troubleshooting using observability tools like Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus. Collaboration with product, architecture, and operations teams is key to ensuring code quality, scalability, and operational resilience. The role requires working with SQL databases, including schema design, query writing, and performance tuning, as well as participating in cloud infrastructure activities on Azure or similar platforms. You will apply ETL concepts for data transformation and integration within service workflows and contribute to staying informed on modern technologies, including AI-driven capabilities, to drive continuous improvement. Maintaining clear technical documentation and supporting knowledge sharing are also important aspects of this position.

Required Skills & Experience: Demonstrated experience developing applications in Golang within a production or pre-production environment. Solid understanding of SQL and relational data modeling. Direct exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred). Familiarity with microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes fundamentals. Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies. Experience building and consuming REST APIs. Exposure to monitoring and observability practices. Proficiency with Git or similar version control tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on building maintainable, scalable services. Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-Have: Experience with ETL workflows, data integration patterns, or data processing pipelines. Exposure to AI technologies, including generative or intelligent automation capabilities. Familiarity with frontend technologies such as Angular or Node.js.
