Jr. Power System Engineer - Hyderabad / Secunderabad, Telangana, India
Reports to: Manager
Meridian IT Inc. is seeking a Jr. Power System Engineer to join our team in Hyderabad. This role is crucial for supporting our IBMi system operations and ensuring smooth daily functioning.
Position Summary:
The Jr. Power System Engineer will possess a minimum of one year of IBMi System operator experience, with a strong aptitude for problem identification and excellent communication skills. This role involves working under the guidance of a Sr. Operator/Power Engineer, executing instructions to resolve day-to-day operational issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate the Halcyon monitoring console, identifying and resolving issues at the operator level or escalating to senior engineers.
- Manage and escalate tickets within Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring prompt engagement with appropriate support groups for high-priority incidents.
- Monitor BRMS backups, iCluster, and Maxava replication sets to ensure data integrity and system availability.
- Proactively monitor system health, identifying and escalating potential risks to senior team members.
- Perform duties under the direct supervision of a Power System Engineer.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of Power Systems and beginner-level understanding of IBMi OS.
- Experience operating the Halcyon monitoring console.
- Ability to review QSYSOPR message queues and diagnose the cause of message waits.
- Foundational understanding of BRMS and replication software such as iCluster or Maxava.
- Skill in reviewing work with problem entries to distinguish between software and hardware issues.
- Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) delivery concepts.
- A strong passion for customer service excellence.
- Availability and willingness to participate in a 24x7 rotation schedule.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is preferred.
