Role Overview

ITMC Systems, Inc. in Raleigh, NC is currently seeking a motivated Junior Java Backend Developer for an exciting contract position. This role offers hands-on development experience with modern technologies including Spring, REST APIs, microservices architectures, and cutting-edge AI-assisted development tools.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Core Java Skills: Demonstrate strong proficiency in Java 11 or 17+ with extensive experience using the Spring Boot framework within enterprise environments.
• Architecture: Design and build robust RESTful APIs and scalable microservices while adhering to object-oriented design principles, standard design patterns, and clean-code practices.
• Databases & Testing: Utilize SQL for relational database interactions; ensure code quality through rigorous unit testing using frameworks like JUnit or Mockito.
• DevOps Practices: Leverage Git version control and implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes. Apply strong debugging skills for effective production troubleshooting.
• Security & AI Integration: Implement comprehensive application security measures, including authentication, authorization, exception handling, and API protection.
  Crucially, possess practical experience using AI coding assistants in a professional software development context. Must demonstrate the ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code rather than accepting outputs without scrutiny.
• Critical Thinking: Apply advanced prompting techniques for engineering tasks and utilize AI-assisted tools for test generation and automated code reviews.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with event-driven platforms such as Kafka.
• Experience containerizing applications using Docker and orchestrating them with Kubernetes on cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of observability tools for application monitoring.
  Relevant experience in high-volume transactional systems or domains like financial services/fintech is highly valued.
