Java Backend Engineer

Job Title: Java Backend Engineer (L2 Production Support) (70% Support / 30% Development) Location: Remote (India) Employment Type: Full-time Shift: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM IST (with shared on-call rotation) Onboarding: Within 30 days

We are seeking a hands-on Java Backend Engineer to join our team as an L2 Support Engineer, focusing on Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS integrations. The role requires a strong blend of development expertise and production support skills, with proficiency in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and collaborative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a deep understanding of Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS APIs, integration points, and cross-system communication.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and support integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS and related backend services.
• Analyze logs, database queries, API responses, and Kafka events to diagnose and resolve production issues.
• Identify root causes of issues in application, database, integration, or external systems and implement permanent fixes.
• Maintain and enhance Java/Spring Boot applications, including bug fixes, performance tuning, and code improvements.
• Write and maintain unit/integration tests and contribute to broader testing strategies.
• Follow engineering best practices, including code reviews, monitoring, and documentation.
• Collaborate with L3/Lead engineers on technical or architectural escalations.
• Participate in on-call support, ensuring timely issue tracking and escalation.

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of experience in Java backend development and/or production support.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
• Solid SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Proven experience debugging and resolving production issues.
• Comfort with logs, monitoring, and root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with integration patterns, Kafka, and cloud platforms/DevOps practices.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on escalations.
