Full Job Description
Allstate seeks a Software Engineer Sr Consultant I to develop and enhance applications based on 12-factor principles. This role involves end-to-end ownership of software products, including frontend (web/mobile) and backend services. The engineer will utilize test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration (CI) for agility and quality, actively participating in team decision-making to select the most appropriate technologies. Key responsibilities include participating in iteration planning, executing strategy with a customer-centric approach, collaborating on system design, attending stand-ups and retrospectives, supporting software in user environments, and engaging in knowledge sharing. The role emphasizes daily paired programming and TDD, along with establishing CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in iteration planning meetings to ensure a shared understanding of team backlogs.
- Engage in strategy execution, prioritizing customer needs and desires.
- Collaborate with the team on designing systems and applications.
- Attend daily site, cross-site, and product team stand-ups.
- Contribute to retrospectives to identify actionable improvements for the team and product.
- Provide support for software products in user environments.
- Participate in knowledge sharing initiatives to enhance collective team knowledge.
- Practice daily paired programming and test-driven development in software development and product building.
- Establish and maintain continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices.
Education
- A 4-year Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience
- 3 or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
Education & Experience (in lieu)
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the stated educational requirements.
Primary Skills include Application Monitoring, Java, Microservices Architecture, and Spring Boot.
