IT Technology Services Senior Specialist / Senior OS/Linux Server Management Engineer - Gurgaon, India

SAP's Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) Delivery organization is at the forefront of paving the path for the future of SAP by delivering end-to-end managed services during a customer’s cloud transformation journey. We offer a spectrum of cloud deployment options across our own infrastructure, partner networks, and public cloud infrastructures.

The Regional Delivery Team (aka Regional SWAT Team) is focused on the continuous improvement of ECS delivery, de-escalation, and escalation avoidance for ECS customers. We achieve this through proactive “Go Green” plans developed in close collaboration with various SAP stakeholders and customers.

To enhance our delivery capabilities in the region, the ECS Delivery Organization EMEA is seeking an expert in OS/Linux Server management with customer-facing experience to join the Regional Delivery Team (RDT).

THE ROLE:

• You will be an integral part of a small, highly skilled team within the global delivery organization, responsible for the EMEA region.
• Your primary responsibility will be to continuously improve our TechOps delivery across all aspects, including Service Request execution, infrastructure landscape re-architecture, new technology adoption, and pilot programs. A global mindset and customer focus are essential.
• As a Server Management expert, you will drive critical topics related to Escalation Handling, Incident Management, Problem Management, Service Request fulfillment, Build/Migration, Go-Live support, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup & Restore, and Network topics.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS:

• Analyze customer situations, processes, and methodologies to identify patterns and develop improvement solutions.
• Continuously implement projects to enhance our delivery processes and outcomes.
• Employ structured methodologies to prevent escalations, analyzing situations from various perspectives to develop preventative strategies for critical customer situations.
• Effectively de-escalate critical customer situations.
• Engage and collaborate effectively with customers, partners, and SAP internal stakeholders.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, team player, and thrive in a fast-changing and rapidly growing environment.
• Strong experience as an OS/Linux Server engineer in global operations, coupled with a proven track record in continuous improvement.
• Essential experience with SAP installations and upgrades, including planning, setup, and implementation.
• Proficiency in networking concepts such as TCP/IP, IP routing, NAT, and firewalls.
• Experience with network services including DNS, LDAP, and HTTP proxies.
• Exposure to automation tools, scripting, or processes.
• Solid understanding of application security, backup and recovery strategies, performance tuning, system copies, export-import processes, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience with Pacemaker is considered a plus.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex issues in a clear and understandable manner.
• Very good English language proficiency is mandatory.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10+ years of related professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technologies Management, or a related field.
• Cloud knowledge, including experience with Public Cloud domains like Microsoft Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Professional Certification in OS/Linux Server management.
• ITIL certification.

• Proven ability to provide technical expertise and support in optimizing and tuning systems for performance.
• Knowledge of application security, backup and recovery strategies, performance tuning, system copies, export-import, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Willingness to learn other SAP administration products such as Cloud Connector, ASE, BTP, etc.
• Organized and structured in daily documentation.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex issues clearly.
• Very good English language proficiency is mandatory.
