IT Systems Engineer - End-User Support (India)
Trexquant Investment LP is seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Engineer to join our team in Gurugram, India. This role is crucial for supporting and scaling our end-user computing and IT infrastructure onsite. You will be instrumental in designing, automating, and optimizing systems to ensure a secure and high-performance environment for our company. This position may also require light, after-hours support for US users during India business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and deploy Windows and macOS desktops and laptops.
- Provide comprehensive first- and second-line support for hardware, software, and access-related issues.
- Manage and troubleshoot Windows 11 and macOS environments.
- Administer user accounts, identity management, and access controls across various systems.
- Lead the entire endpoint lifecycle management, including automated provisioning, configuration, compliance, and patching using modern device management platforms.
- Troubleshoot login, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Virtual Private Network (VPN), email, and general access issues.
- Design and optimize onboarding and offboarding workflows with a strong focus on automation, security, and auditability.
- Oversee the management of peripheral hardware, including camera infrastructure, printers, and access devices, as part of a holistic end-user experience strategy.
- Provide functional support and troubleshooting for Linux systems.
- Develop and maintain automation frameworks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to reduce manual processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Networking & Infrastructure
- Lead network troubleshooting across DNS, DHCP, VPN, and connectivity layers, with the ability to diagnose issues end-to-end.
- Oversee and enhance office network infrastructure, ensuring Wi-Fi and LAN performance and reliability.
- Assist with firewall access and connectivity issues.
- Escalate complex technical issues as required.
Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure the delivery of reliable IT operations for the India office, with accountability for uptime, user experience, and service quality.
- Proactively monitor and improve identity and authentication systems to ensure high reliability and rapid resolution of access-related issues.
- Manage and update tickets within the IT service management system.
- Maintain and track IT assets, including inventory and documentation.
- Ensure all systems adhere to patching and security standards.
- Manage local IT vendor relationships, including hardware procurement, warranty replacements (e.g., Apple, Dell, Lenovo), and managing local Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
- Act as the primary liaison for third-party contractors (e.g., cabling technicians, printer maintenance, AV specialists), ensuring their work meets corporate standards.
- Collaborate effectively with global IT teams on support and project initiatives.
- Conduct IT orientations for new hires, ensuring a smooth Day 1 experience and educating users on IT security best practices and company policies.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in IT support or systems engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Windows 11 and macOS (configuration, management, troubleshooting).
- User identity and access management concepts.
- Device management and endpoint deployment tools.
- Networking hardware and software.
- Experience with remote support tools.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Basic understanding of Linux systems.
- Knowledge of fundamental networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and VPN.
- Experience with hardware and end-user support.
- Familiarity with enterprise firewalls, switches, and wireless environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a multi-office or global environment.
- Familiarity with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Single Sign-On (SSO), and access control best practices.
- Experience with IT service management tools, such as ticketing systems.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Apple, CompTIA, Cisco).
