Full Job Description
The R&D IT department provides essential IT services to empower NXP's R&D engineers. Our comprehensive design environment integrates Design Infrastructure, EDA applications, Design Data Management, and Product Creation Applications. Global R&D IT services are delivered from strategic locations, leveraging both on-premise and public cloud Data Centers. Our core objective is to ensure NXP's business success and market leadership by delivering best-in-class R&D IT services and solutions.
As a Jr. DevOps Automation Engineer, you will collaborate with others and utilize your hands-on experience with the Linux Operating System. You will be passionate about automation and application development. Working closely with virtualization and storage teams, you will be instrumental in building, maintaining, and enhancing our Cloud and On-Premise Datacenter environments for R&D IT Design Infrastructure.
What We Are Looking For:
- A Bachelor's degree with approximately 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with Git, Ansible, Satellite, Salt, Python, Docker, and AWS is a plus.
- Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Understanding of datacenter internals, including the differences between server types, and experience with PXE boot and modern automated server deployment methods for large-scale environments.
- Experience maintaining hardware/cloud monitoring services using tools like SPLUNK, AWS tooling, or Zabbix, with an understanding of the distinctions between datacenter hardware and cloud instances.
- Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and/or other relevant Kubernetes-based environments is a plus.
- An outgoing personality with a strong desire to connect with colleagues and other teams.
- A keen interest in automation and application development.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Understanding of essential security measures for data protection, including access controls and encryption.
- Recognition of the critical importance of maintaining up-to-date documentation for service management.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience as a DevOps Engineer with automation skills in both AWS cloud and on-premises environments.
- Automation skills preferably utilizing Ansible, Python, and AWS CloudFormation.
- Certifications with Red Hat and AWS are considered a plus.
- A strong appreciation for teamwork and collaboration to achieve success both within the team and the larger organization.
- A solution-oriented, hands-on approach with a proactive mentality, demonstrating a customer-centric mindset rather than a traditional IT service provider siloed approach (e.g., understanding SLAs).
- Familiarity with IT Service Management processes based on ITIL principles and knowledge of tools like Service Now. Experience with ITIL process responsibility.
- Possession of strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A quality-oriented mindset with excellent skills in documenting processes and ensuring documentation remains current and accurate.
