About the Role

The State of South Carolina is hiring a Security Analyst - Project Lead within its Division of Information Security. This critical role supports statewide security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, and investigations while coordinating closely with state agencies and technical teams to enhance centralized security services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze complex attack patterns using SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS data across MITRE ATT&CK frameworks
• Perform deep-dive analysis on suspicious activity, validate incidents, determine root causes, and escalate critical issues to Tier 3 teams
• Create detailed incident reports, timelines, and post-incident summaries for continuous improvement
• Investigate user-reported phishing attempts, malware infections, and policy violations while advising on containment strategies
• Recommend updates to SOC playbooks based on real-world investigations to reduce false positives
• Collaborate with engineering teams to tune monitoring tools and integrate new threat intelligence feeds
• Serve as a customer-facing SME, demonstrating service capabilities and resolving client issues
