Role Overview

We are seeking a Security Engineer with strong infrastructure and application security skills for a fully remote position supporting our client's headquarters in San Francisco. In this hands-on engineering role, you will help secure a cloud platform built on substantial Kubernetes infrastructure, working across systems powering the platform, applications, APIs, and customer-facing services.

Key Responsibilities

• Build Security Tooling: Design and implement internal tools, authentication services, proxies, and mechanisms for secure access to sensitive resources.
• Secure Cloud & Kubernetes Infrastructure: Identify and address risks in cloud workloads, containerized environments, control planes, service-to-service communication, and underlying systems.
• Improve Application Security: Review architecture, code, APIs, and execution paths to implement durable security improvements.
• Detection & Prevention: Develop automated checks and monitoring systems that surface high-signal issues while minimizing operational overhead.
• Vulnerability Management: Lead assessments from threat modeling and penetration testing; prioritize remediation with engineering teams based on real-world impact.
• Collaboration: Partner with engineering to shape secure architecture, implement identity/access controls (authN/authZ), and respond to security incidents.

About You

You have 6+ years of experience in software or security engineering at rapidly growing technology companies. You possess strong fundamentals in authentication, authorization, least privilege, isolation boundaries, and secure system design. Your pragmatic approach balances meaningful risk reduction with preserving engineering velocity.
