Role Overview
A confidential client based near Downey, CA is seeking a qualified Information Technology Mainframe Operator. In this role, you will maintain system health and ensure normal operation of IBM mainframe systems by monitoring consoles, managing subsystem startups/shutdowns, and coordinating with programming staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform orderly restart operations for major subsystems including transaction processing, database systems (DB2, IMS), and the operating system itself on p-Series/z-Series platforms.
- Maintain automation of system monitoring procedures using tools like Tivoli, ITM System Monitoring, CONTROL-M, and BMC Tools.
- Collaborate with production control analysts to verify workload completion and work with system programmers for troubleshooting unusual conditions.
Requirements
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field. Minimum 5 years of mainframe operator experience is required, including at least 2 years administering IBM System p-Series/z-Series platforms and 1 year with automation monitoring procedures.
