About the Role

As an Information Security Analyst at Teradata, you will be a key member of our Security Operations team, serving as the first line of defense for our organization's digital assets. You will work collaboratively with SOC Analysts across various shifts to monitor, triage, and respond to security events. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring SIEM and security tools for suspicious activity and potential threats, and triaging/analyzing alerts to determine impact and urgency.
  • Investigating and responding to cybersecurity incidents such as malware infections, phishing attempts, unauthorized access, and data exfiltration, escalating significant incidents as needed.
  • Maintaining and tuning security tools including SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and firewalls, and assisting with rule creation and fine-tuning to minimize false positives and enhance detection capabilities.
  • Consuming and correlating threat intelligence feeds with internal data to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs) and proactively hunt for threats.
  • Analyzing logs from various sources (network, system, application) for anomalies and correlating events across multiple datasets to uncover patterns and threats.
  • Documenting incidents, response actions, and findings within incident management systems and preparing regular reports on security posture, incident metrics, and threat trends.
  • Interpreting vulnerability scan and penetration test results, and communicating issues and proposed fixes clearly to non-security experts.
  • Assisting in user education on secure practices and common threats.
  • Identifying and automating security processes and practices.

Who You'll Work With

You will collaborate with teammates to refine detection rules, implement new security tools, and optimize our SIEM and EDR platforms. This includes escalating critical threats, supporting investigations of confirmed security incidents, coordinating response actions, gathering alert context, and implementing remediation measures. You will also provide operational context on exploited vulnerabilities and prioritize patching efforts based on threat intelligence, while incorporating emerging threat indicators into detection logic and enriching alert investigations.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a security operations or vulnerability management role.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanners (e.g., Qualys, Tenable).
  • Experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, QRadar, Palo Alto Prisma).
  • Hands-on knowledge of security tools such as EDR, IDS, firewalls, and threat intelligence platforms.
  • Familiarity with common threat vectors, attack techniques (MITRE ATT&CK), and incident response processes.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, networking concepts, Windows/Linux logs, and cloud security.
  • Interest or experience in LLMs, autonomous agents, or AI tooling is a plus.

What You Bring

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain security topics clearly to business representatives.
  • General understanding of and passion for computer, web, and network security.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud environments.
  • Ability to automate tasks using a scripting language (Python preferred).
  • Deep understanding of HTTP and SSL/TLS protocols, and web applications.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (all OSI layers).
  • Proficiency in Linux administration.
  • Understanding of continuous integration / continuous deployment processes and tools.
