Join Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering, as an Industrial Engineer in Santa Clara, CA. This role is pivotal in optimizing our manufacturing processes for advanced chips and displays. You will conduct in-depth methods engineering analysis, including process design and time/motion studies. You'll actively participate in key Industrial Engineering projects and programs, contributing to their successful implementation with robust quality tools and supporting processes. This position offers the opportunity to perform cost analysis and ROI calculations to guide project selection. You will also evaluate and enhance ergonomics and human factors in work area designs. A significant part of this role involves developing and implementing manufacturing facility designs, covering plant layouts, material handling systems, and warehousing solutions. You will support new product introductions by managing line-side setups, new tool integration, and manufacturing line configurations. As a role model, you will exemplify safe behaviors and adherence to established protocols and core values. This position requires calculating and maintaining critical capacity data for materials, personnel, space, and equipment, providing essential guidance to manufacturing and logistics for optimal asset utilization and process efficiency. You will also be responsible for establishing and documenting standards and procedures for your assigned areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Methods Engineering analysis, including process design and time/motion studies.
- Participate in and drive I.E. projects, assisting with their implementation and success measurement.
- Conduct ergonomics/human factors evaluations and implement improvements.
- Develop and implement manufacturing facility designs (plant layout, material handling, warehousing).
- Support new product introductions with essential setup and configuration deliverables.
- Serve as a role model for engineering team members in safety and adherence to procedures.
- Calculate and maintain capacity data and provide guidance on asset utilization.
- Establish standards and procedures for assigned areas.
Physical Requirements: This role may involve standing for extended periods, walking, working in confined spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and lifting. You must be able to distinguish colors and work in a potentially noisy environment. Use of hand and power tools is required.
Clean Room Environment: Work may be performed in a clean room, requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields.
Required Qualifications: Demonstrates conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within Industrial Engineering. Applies general knowledge of business principles. Accountable for developing technical contributions with no supervisory responsibilities. Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems and makes informed judgments based on analysis. Has limited impact on own work team, working within standardized procedures to achieve objectives. Effectively exchanges straightforward information and seeks understanding.
