About The Team

The Store & OPD (Online Pickup and Delivery) Tech organization builds mission-critical backend platforms for Walmart's store fulfillment experience. Our flagship platform, GIF, orchestrates end-to-end order lifecycles from pre-pick to delivery across the US, Canada, Mexico, Sam's Club, and Massmart markets.

What You'll Do

• Translate business problems into scalable technology solutions for high-throughput, low-latency distributed services.
• Lead architecture reviews and drive service simplification, multi-tenancy, and disaster-recovery capabilities.
• Own production excellence by troubleshooting complex incidents using logs, metrics, traces, and root-cause analysis.
• Raise the bar on sustainable engineering through best practices, high-quality code, automated testing, and observability.
• Apply AI/GenAI tools across coding, debugging, and documentation with disciplined validation to adopt agentic workflows.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for engineers with 10+ years of experience designing scalable applications in product-based companies or R&D divisions. Key requirements include:

• 5+ years building microservices in Java (Spring/Spring Boot) or equivalent depth in Go.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and deep distributed-systems expertise (event-driven design, consistency, fault isolation).
• Hands-on experience with Kafka plus SQL/NoSQL stores like Cosmos DB, Cassandra, MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle.
• Cloud-native engineering skills using Kubernetes, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability on platforms like Azure or GCP.
