About the Job

The HTML Developer role is part of a collaborative IT team responsible for publishing JoVE's latest science articles on the web. Key responsibilities include:

  • Converting Microsoft Word manuscripts (.doc to .docx) and removing formatting errors
  • Converting .docx files to HTML and CSS using Python scripts
  • Transferring manuscript text into digital publication tools for release
  • Adding appropriate HTML and CSS tags to ensure proper web display
  • Formatting and validating graphics for accurate display
  • Cross-checking author, institution, and reference details for errors
  • Handling scientific character entities, including Greek and mathematical notations
  • Formatting and validating XML manuscripts for submission to PubMed Central

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree is mandatory
  • Proven experience with HTML, CSS, nested lists, tables, and inline/block elements
  • Strong Python execution skills
  • Familiarity with XML structure and usage
  • Experience with image editing and formatting
  • Knowledge of HTML entities and scientific notations
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
