Role Overview

ZOOP is seeking a skilled Backend Engineer (SDE 2) to design and build scalable backend systems for our EV charging infrastructure and energy management platforms. This role focuses on developing high-performance APIs, event-driven architectures, and data pipelines that process critical telemetry from EVs, manage charging sessions, and generate insightful energy analytics.

You'll Own:

• Service Development: Design and develop scalable backend services using Go (Golang) with robust RESTful/WebSocket APIs.
• Database Architecture: Build microservices and optimize databases for high-volume telemetry data, specifically handling charging-session metrics. Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB is required.
• Event-Driven Systems: Construct pipelines using Apache Kafka to handle real-time and batch processing workflows for energy metrics.
• Reliability & Observability: Improve application performance, implement monitoring strategies (Grafana/Kibana/ELK), and manage deployments via Docker and Kubernetes on cloud platforms like GCP.
• Mentorship: Support junior engineers through code reviews, system design discussions, and documentation.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: 3-5+ years in backend development building scalable APIs and microservices.
• Golang Proficiency: Strong command of Go for high-performance systems.
• Databases: Deep understanding of relational (PostgreSQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB), including query optimization, indexing, schema design, partitioning, and replication.
• Messaging Systems: Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for distributed systems.
• Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with GCP or similar platforms; proficiency in Docker/Kubernetes orchestration.
• Observability Tools: Experience using Grafana, Kibana, or ELK stacks.
• Best Practices: Strong grasp of system design and ability to write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive unit/integration tests.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in EV charging, energy management, mobility tech, or IoT platforms.
• Specialization in processing high-volume time-series telemetry data and real-time analytics pipelines.
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows for production infrastructure at scale.
