Ciena, a global leader in high-speed connectivity, seeks a Global Commodity Manager – Wafer Foundry & Advanced Material Systems for its Ottawa location. This full-time, onsite role emphasizes a people-first approach and a flexible work environment. The Global Commodity Manager will be instrumental in developing and executing global sourcing strategies for advanced wafer materials, ensuring supply assurance, and cultivating robust supplier partnerships. Responsibilities include leading commodity strategies for silicon photonics, indium phosphide (InP), and advanced wafer material systems to guarantee long-term supply and scalability. Key tasks involve building and managing a resilient supplier ecosystem aligned with Ciena’s technology roadmap and growth plans, establishing executive-level relationships with wafer foundries and material suppliers, and negotiating complex commercial agreements. This role will drive multi-year cost-reduction initiatives through yield improvement, should-cost analysis, and process technology transitions. The manager will ensure supply continuity via capacity planning and contingency strategies, especially during supply constraints, and collaborate cross-functionally to align sourcing with product milestones, margin objectives, and business growth.
