GIS Support Specialist

Assystem is seeking a skilled GIS Support Specialist to join our dynamic team in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with GIS technologies and tools, demonstrating a strong background in GIS analysis, data management, and complex problem-solving. This role demands a detail-oriented professional capable of supporting diverse GIS projects, adeptly troubleshooting technical issues, and providing crucial technical guidance to ensure the optimal and effective utilization of our GIS systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive technical support for a range of GIS software and tools, including but not limited to ArcGIS, QGIS, and associated applications.
• Assist in the meticulous creation, precise editing, and efficient management of GIS data layers and databases.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to GIS data integrity, software functionality, and hardware performance.
• Conduct in-depth data analysis and generate essential maps, insightful reports, and clear visualizations as per project requirements.
• Engage collaboratively with cross-functional departments and stakeholders to thoroughly understand GIS needs and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Maintain and update all relevant GIS documentation, standard operating procedures, and workflows to ensure consistency and best practices.
• Facilitate the seamless integration of GIS data with other disparate systems and emerging technologies.
• Develop and deliver targeted training sessions and provide ongoing support to GIS users across the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartography, or a closely related field. Relevant professional certifications are considered a strong asset.
• Demonstrated experience with core GIS software, specifically ArcGIS Desktop/Pro and QGIS, along with proficiency in related tools such as ArcPy and Python scripting.
• Solid understanding of fundamental GIS concepts, diverse data formats, coordinate systems, and map projections.
• Proven experience in robust data management practices, sophisticated spatial analysis techniques, and the creation of professional-grade maps.
• Familiarity with database management systems, including SQL and spatial databases, is highly desirable.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities coupled with meticulous attention to detail are essential.
• Capacity to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational capabilities and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and concurrent projects.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Revit and Dynamo, particularly for GIS integration projects.

Additional Information:

• Proficiency and practical experience with ArcGIS is a key requirement.
