GIS Data Engineer II

As a GIS Data Engineer in Mumbai, Maharashtra, you will play a crucial role in building, maintaining, and enhancing spatial data processing pipelines that are essential for map creation and geospatial data products. Your responsibilities will include analyzing diverse spatial data sources, improving data quality, and driving automation in map update workflows. This position offers the opportunity to leverage AI/ML methods for scalable geospatial processing, combining strong GIS data engineering, spatial analytics, and automation skills.

• Build and manage geospatial data workflows: Independently develop, maintain, and execute complex data engineering processes for ingesting, transforming, validating, and comparing external spatial data.
• Apply GIS tools and programming: Utilize Python, SQL, FME, ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, and related technologies to process, integrate, analyze, and improve geospatial datasets.
• Perform spatial analysis and problem resolution: Detect changes, identify quality issues, investigate data fallouts, and resolve problems in data conversion and map content.
• Enhance automation and efficiency: Design and implement automated solutions for feature matching, attribute comparison, change detection, and coding workflows to increase scale and reduce manual effort.
• Strengthen data quality and reliability: Implement validation, monitoring, alerts, and performance measures to ensure data quality, traceability, and operational stability.
• Support applied AI/ML workflows: Contribute to practical AI/ML solutions for geospatial processing, including classification, confidence scoring, anomaly detection, and prioritization.
• Collaborate across teams: Partner effectively with engineering, analytics, product, and operations teams to deliver robust geospatial data solutions.

You are a motivated and curious GIS Data Engineer with a passion for data, automation, and emerging technologies. You possess strong analytical thinking and hands-on technical skills, with experience designing and operating scalable spatial data solutions in a cloud environment.

• Strong GIS data engineering and spatial analysis skills
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience with GIS/spatial tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, FME, or PostGIS
• Adherence to engineering best practices (Git/GitLab, CI/CD, code reviews, documentation)
• Developing AWS knowledge (services like Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3)
• Experience with pipeline development, data validation, and quality control
• Familiarity with automation for scalable data processing
• Exposure to AI/ML or applied data science in geospatial use cases
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
