GCP / K8S DevOps Engineer

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer (2-5 years) to join our dynamic team in Bengaluru/Bangalore, India. You will be instrumental in deploying, maintaining, and auto-scaling backend, database, and frontend services within production cloud environments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes (GKE). A strong focus on security and scalability is essential.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrate Cloud Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and scale resilient production environments on GCP using Kubernetes (GKE).
• Automate Delivery: Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for seamless, automated deployments of backend, database, and AI services.
• Scale Data Systems: Manage and optimize high-performance databases, ensuring spatial data tools (PostGIS, pg_tileserv) are performant, highly available, and autoscaling.
• Implement Observability: Establish comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks for system health and rapid incident response.
• Harden Security: Manage IAM roles, network security (VPCs), and secret management for a security-first architecture.
• Optimize for Performance: Tune container resources and cluster autoscaling for high-performance AI workloads and cost-efficiency.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code: Ensure reproducible, version-controlled environments using tools like Terraform or Helm.
• Collaborate on Architecture: Partner with backend and data engineering teams to design scalable microservices and reliable data ingestion workflows.

Requirements

• Cloud-Native Ecosystem Expertise: Confident navigation of GKE, VPCs, and IAM, with a knack for optimizing container orchestration for performance and cost.
• Infrastructure as Code Champion: Belief in defining all resources via Helm (or Terraform/Pulumi) for reproducible, version-controlled environments.
• Kubernetes for ML Proficiency: Experience managing GKE clusters optimized for ML workloads, including autoscaling GPU/TPU nodes and using orchestrators like Kubeflow or Argo Workflows.
• Robust CI/CD Pipeline Builder: Focus on reducing time to production through automated testing, security scanning, and deployment strategies (Canary, Blue/Green) using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.
• Security-Shift-Left Advocate: Integration of security from the design phase, effective secret management, and adherence to least-privilege access principles.
• Observability Optimizer: Proactive building of monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks (Prometheus, Grafana, Google Cloud Operations) to maintain system health.
• Systemic Complexity Solver: Excitement for autoscaling backend microservices and databases, and simplification of developer experience through internal tooling and automation.

Good To Have

• Production GKE Expertise: Deep experience managing GKE at scale, including ingress controllers, service meshes (Istio), and cost optimization.
• Database Reliability Background: Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS at scale, including performance debugging.
• Infrastructure Automation Mastery: Code-first mindset with significant experience in Helm (or Terraform).
• Linux and Networking Proficiency: Strong understanding of VPC networking, DNS, load balancing, and Linux internals.
• Experience in SaaS Environments: Familiarity with multi-tenant, dashboard-heavy product demands and critical data availability.
