About the Role
We are seeking a Fullstack Software Dev Engineer II to join our Identity organization at Yahoo. You will work across the stack, leveraging modern AI-assisted development environments (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) combined with Spec-Driven Development workflows, to build secure, scalable authentication and account management experiences serving hundreds of millions of users globally.
About The Team
Identity platforms at Yahoo provide modern, secure identity offerings for consumers and businesses. These systems operate at massive scale, powering critical capabilities across Yahoo products as part of a transition to an AI-First engineering model.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Build: Create secure, scalable full-stack identity systems using ReactJS, TypeScript, Java, and Node.js.
- Owning Features: Manage complex features end-to-end from requirements to production, acting as a technical resource for peers.
- AI-First Workflow: Lead AI-assisted development by writing precise markdown specifications for code generation and rigorously validating all outputs.
- Maintain Reliability: Debug complex issues in high-traffic distributed systems and enhance platform reliability.
- Automation & Efficiency: Implement AI-driven efficiencies to replace repetitive tasks with structured automation.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Product Managers, UX Designers, Security Engineers, and other squads.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 4–6 years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, React.js, Node.js, and modern frameworks like Next.js.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI-assisted tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot) into daily workflows.
- Solid fundamentals in distributed system design, API development, databases, and web security.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IAM systems (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with observability tools like Splunk and Grafana.
- Knowledge of structured methodologies such as Spec-Driven Development (SDD).
